The 2010 official launch  of the Green Ribbon Week was held in Wedza on the 2nd of June. This year's event was commemorated under the theme, " Many species One planet One future" and the slogan for the commemoration was , "One planet One life". In line with the declaration of the year 2010 as International year of Biological Diversity, the theme calls for everyone to conserve the diversity of life on our planet.

 The guest of honour was the Governor and resident minister of Masholand East Cde Chigwedere. In a speech read on his behalf the governor encouraged the community to desist fromstarting veld fires and cutting down of trees sighting that this contributes to global warming and climate change. The Member of Parliament for Wedza East Mrs. Goto said what the community is doing is very good in educating young ones around the area so that they grow up with the knowledge of preserving our environment. Mrs. Goto said they are prepared to work with the community in helping them market their products and this will help them get income for their day to day business.
