Fellow Zimbabweans, on Wednesday the 16th September 2009, we will join the rest of the World to commemorate 22 years of the existence of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that deplete the Ozone Layer. It is now a well established fact that some widely used man made chemicals have been destroying the stratospheric ozone layer since the middle of the last century. The Stratospheric Ozone Layer shields and protects life on Earth form dangerous ultraviolet radiation form the sun. Depletion of this vital shield will have serious consequences for human health, our food production system and ultimately the entire ecosystem. |

Clean Up The World (Zimbabwe) |

On the 17th to 20th of September 2009 Zimbabwe will join the rest of the world in contributing towards a cleaner world in the 2009 Clean Up the World Campaign. The annual campaign which was initiated in Australia 17 years ago by yachtsman Ian Kiernan has spread to over 100 countries worldwide. Environment Africa is the registered Clean Up the World Coordinator for Zimbabwe and recently Malawi. Malawi will be doing its first Clean Up the World (Malawi) campaign from the 12th to the 17th October 2009. |

Our start to the 2009 RMNP clean up day was certainly warmer than in the previous year, and we expected a large turn out. Approximately 22 people joined us for the clean up day, with several non-members participating. We would like to thank everyone who made the effort to turn out for this worthy cause, especially those who are not members. We are pleased to report that two participants so enjoyed cleaning up the Park that they decided to join our Society! |
