Fellow Zimbabweans, on Wednesday the 16th September 2009, we will join the rest of the World to commemorate 22 years of the existence of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that deplete the Ozone Layer. It is now a well established fact that some widely used man made chemicals have been destroying the stratospheric ozone layer since the middle of the last century. The Stratospheric Ozone Layer shields and protects life on Earth form dangerous ultraviolet radiation form the sun. Depletion of this vital shield will have serious consequences for human health, our food production system and ultimately the entire ecosystem.
